DAY FORTY-TWO: Bredesen’s Legacy: Tennessee Governor is a Joke.
You Are So Nashville If... Your governor gives TennCare beneficiaries McDonald's instead of health care coverage. —Ken Lass

Often called the “Hamburger Summit,” Bredesen’s Public Relations team engineered Phil sitting with demonstrators to make him seem warm and caring, but the stunt backfired. Activists wondered why Gwendolyn Davis, the state Commissioner of the Department of General Services was not doing her job. “As an official of the state of Tennessee, I have the responsibility to enforce the laws regarding the serving and delivering of food inside the Capitol,” Davis said to Reverend Dwight Montgomery, not allowing him to take a dozen bottles of water to demonstrators.
The Final Toll
From Tony Garr
Choose to be there!
Join TennCare enrollees, volunteers and friends at the Legislative Plaza at 8:30 PM on Sunday, July 31, Nashville, TN for the Candle Line Vigil beginning at 8:30 PM and the final toll of the bell at 8:48 PM at Wilson county enrollees.
The Vigil will end around 9:15 PM.
It appears that 90,000 or so TennCare medically needy enrollees may be able to keep limited prescription drug coverage (5 prescriptions per month) for 10 additional days, but unless the Governor decides to continual their coverage, they will have no coverage after August 10.
This is a tragic day for Tennessee. Please make a choice to join the candle light vigil. Bring a candle that will not drip. After 6:00 PM, there is free parking on Charlotte Pike and other areas around legislative plaza.
Take care,
Tony Garr
