Young girl with pink sunglasses What I learned from my long experience with ADAPT is that photos of people can be the most impactful. My role as "web guy" let me see that the candid photos of people can often do more to tell a story than writing.

I found that for myself, candid shots of people's faces often were the most effective medium to get across the passion that activists feel. The face is an infinite canvass.

I have not had as much human experience during the pandemic of 2020, but in this case, socially distanced from the cancer survivor in the photo, I believe this woman tells a story in the photo.

The Memphis Komen Foundation had a Safe Tea event where the participants remained in their cars and volunteers stood distant to pass out goodies to breast cancer survivors. It was October 9, 2020 for two afternoons. I stood at the first section with a mask and without explanation I just photographed people as they drove down the Safe Tea line.

My "go-to lens" for events is my Carl Zeiss 24-70mm zoom. In this instance I also had a flash, but I did not use it on every shot. I felt it was important, with the overcast skies and people shaded by their car the flash gave solid results. But this photo I believe has more depth because of the natural light.
