35 Transportation Hearing

One very obvious result of my photography is that I end up documenting things that are missed. I am sure that somewhere there are a bunch of cellphone photos of this Memphis Transportation hearing and even the photo the subject of this picture is taking may still exist.

But often those things that we feel are important at the time do not flow to the future with the same motivation. We just realize that we have more important things and we let go of the memories.

The gentleman taking the photo stood up, walked to the front and conspictusly shot a photo of the people at the ground-level dias. It was an important day. I felt it was important and I took photos. I am now in awe of the subject of this photo, he was sure that it was a big day, an important meeting. He had to have a photo.

I think of myself and the many things that I have attended and wonder how they all fit in the scheme of things. I document my life and tell stories of places I have been and things that I have seen. My photos tell some of those stories also and they include people I know and no longer can remember.

The two men to the right of the frame are public transportation employees. The woman in the green was a long-time Memphis City Councilwoman. And the guy in the suit, standing was the general manager and CEO of the public transportation system in Memphis, until they found him with some prostitutes.

I made this photo with my SONY 7r.
