37 Cypress Reflection

If you have been to the swamp floor at the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis Tennessee you may have seen the style of Cypress swamps we have around here. But in the summer, the algae can make those swamps really something.

I have tried to get a sample of the really odd milieu that you can find off the main roads in Arkansas and Tennessee. This swamp was somewhere about 20 miles northwest of Memphis, at lake Wapanocca. It is really a remote little place but not where you want to go hiking. You can walk out to the lake, but the overgrowth and swampy area don't create a welcoming place to walk.

In the summer it gets so overgrown, you really don't get to see a lot of wildlife and it can get unbearably hot and humid. I have not been fishing at this lake, but I believe that next time I do some fishing in Arkansas, it will be my first stop.

I have no fishing license right now, but I will get a Tennessee license this spring and try my luck right here for the first time. I don't believe I have ever been fishing in West Tennessee.
